The new aircraft will allow Seychelles airline to expand new operations.

Capua – Tecnam announced today that Islands Development Company (IDC), airline based in the Seychelles, has commenced scheduled operations with its first P2012 STOLs delivered just one month ago.

Following aircraft acceptance and crew training in Italy, the aircraft was delivered via a challenging ferry flight across Africa to reach the Seychelles archipelago.

The P2012 STOL is the ideal platform for inter-island connections between Seychelles International Airport and the smaller airports on the surrounding islands. The P2012 STOL, with its 315m take-off run and 225m landing run, coupled with a certified 10° (17.5%) steep approach, ensures excellent performance even on the smallest runways in the archipelago, while maintaining twin-engine safety and excellent on-board comfort and accommodation.

Tecnam’s innovative and modern design of an aircraft built with commuter passengers in mind will allow IDC passengers to experience the comfort and luxury of modern amenities and ergonomic design, providing a high level of service to their communities.

The P2012 STOL, which comfortably seats nine passengers with one or two crew, is a new generation, turbocharged, twin-engine, high wing aircraft. Its introduction to the Islands Development Company’s fleet will offer experiences that discerning travellers expect, such as premium interiors, in-seat power, superior legroom and under-seat stowage.

Giovanni Pascale Langer, Tecnam Managing Director, said: “From Alaska to Hawaii, from the Caribbean to the Seychelles, the P2012 is proving to be the aircraft of choice for many operators due to its modern design and low operating costs.”

Glenny Savy, IDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said: “The Tecnam P2012 STOL is a strategic addition to IDC’s fleet. This versatile aircraft will enhance operations on all the islands managed by IDC, especially those with shorter airfields, improving accessibility and operational efficiency”.

First P2012 Touches Down At Zil Air Base At Seychelles International Airport https://tecnam.com/first-p2012-touches-down-at-zil-air-base-at-seychelles-international-airport/ https://tecnam.com/first-p2012-touches-down-at-zil-air-base-at-seychelles-international-airport/#respond Mon, 02 Dec 2019 13:27:13 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=14785

CAPUA – The P2012 Tecnam Traveller S7-ADM, commanded by Captains Gerhard Geyer, John Rachel and Anthony Hoareau, departed the Tecnam factory in Italy last week on a 4,500 nautical mile journey to Seychelles.

The delivery flight flew over Italy, Greece, Egypt, Sudan, Kenya and Tanzania to finally reach its destination.

As of today, Zil Air is the second world-wide operator, and the only one outside the USA, to offer the Tecnam Traveller in Commercial Operations.

Comfortably accommodating nine passengers with two crew, the Traveller is a new-generation, piston-powered, twin-engine, high-wing, fixed-landing-gear aircraft. The introduction into the Zil Air fleet provides their customers with cost-effective and varied configuration options, whilst always offering experiences that discerning travellers expect, such as air-conditioning, in-seat power, decent leg room and under-seat storage space.

Cutting-edge avionics by Garmin offers pilots all the information they require for day and night operations, making night operations to equipped airfields another key factor in the choice of aircraft.

The Traveller offers multi-role opportunities, including Special Mission, VIP, Cargo, Hydro options, parachuting and medevac services, and Zil Air is working closely with Tecnam to implement the latter.

Tecnam embraced Zil Air as a partner from day one, and the two teams worked alongside each other to customise this brand-new aircraft in order to meet Zil Air’s exact requirements.

Zil Air’s Executive Director, Mr. Francis Savy remarks: “We are proud of our team and their tireless efforts to ensure the aircraft landed in Seychelles ready to commence operations in December 2019. Good things take time and the final result is an aircraft answering all Zil Air’s operational requirements and it was purposefully tailored for Seychelles operations.”

Tecnam’s Managing Director, Giovanni Pascale said: “This new delivery is another great achievement for us. After the Atlantic jump in cold climates, the Traveller confirms her qualities in warm, hot countries such as Africa. We are delighted to have Zil Air among our valuable customers.”
