AIR INTER ILES STARTS REGULAR SERVICES WITH P2012 STOL https://tecnam.com/air-inter-iles-starts-regular-services-with-p2012-stol/ Wed, 09 Jul 2025 12:17:44 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=30426 WELCOME TO THE TECNAM FAMILY

St. Barth Executive, the French VIP airline based in the Caribbean, has started scheduled operations with the two delivered P2012 STOLs. A third aircraft is expected in September.

The first passenger flight took place on August 1st, 2024 from Guadeloupe (PTP/TFFR) to St. Barth (SBH/TFFJ), operated under the AIR INTER ILES brand by St. Barth Executive. With a regular schedule of three daily flights, and up to six in high season, this 50-minute route offers a reliable and affordable connection for locals and tourists, linking islands previously accessible only by boat.
The P2012 STOL, ideal for the West Indies, is well-suited to demanding runways like Saint-Barthélemy (646m long runway), thanks to its short takeoff (425m) and landing distances (360m) and certified “10° (17.5%) steep approach”. Its modern design, focuses on passenger comfort and allows St. Barth Executive to deliver a high-end experience across the Caribbean.

Connecting Caribbean islands that are difficult to reach by plane? Keeping operating costs and downtime low? Offering a premium experience to passengers at the same timeFor many, this might have seemed like an ambitious dream, almost utopian. But for Vincent Beauvarlet, President of St. Barth Executive, it was a clear objective. With the arrival of the P2012 STOL, this vision becomes reality. Designed to meet the region’s demanding conditions while ensuring comfort and efficiency, the aircraft is a perfect match for St. Barth Executive’s mission.

“The P2012 lands and takes off perfectly in St. Barth and offers us an attractive payload. Finally, we have an air vector that allows us to connect our islands with controlled operating costs”

Vincent Beauvarlet

Président, St Barth Executive

Discovering the P2012 STOL

Currently operating the P2012 STOL for the first time, Valentine Tahan, a seasoned pilot with SBH Executive, brings both experience and enthusiasm to the cockpit. What struck him immediately was the aircraft’s handling. Smooth and responsive, especially at lower speeds, the Tecnam delivers a level of finesse that sets it apart in its category.

The aircraft’s full glass cockpit is another standout feature. The avionics suite is impressively complete, providing pilots with a modern, intuitive interface. A dedicated engine page displays all engine parameters in real time, contributing to a streamlined flying experience that emphasizes both safety and simplicity.

Valentine points out that transitioning from a Cessna Caravan to the Tecnam comes with noticeable differences, not just in performance, but also in feel. The lighter, more agile Tecnam offers a level of control that’s hard to match, especially when operating in tight, technical environments. Valentine notes:

“It feels like a pilot’s aircraft through and through. Everything is right where you need it! The avionics, the engine monitoring, the responsiveness.”

Indeed, the design is as functional as it is elegant. Built for short-field operations, the P2012 STOL performs exceptionally well on runways like the legendary strip at St. Barts, where space is limited and precision is everything. For Valentine, the appeal lies not only in the performance but also in the joy of light aviation. Flying smaller aircraft allows for a more connected, hands-on experience, something that’s often lost in the world of large commercial liners. Whether it’s tackling a technical airfield or simply enjoying the sensation of flight, the Tecnam STOL delivers.

Expanding the P2012 Multi-Mission Capabilities

The P2012 Special Mission builds on the proven success of the P2012 platform, offering unmatched flexibility for a variety of applications, including aerial surveillance, border patrol, medevac, terrain mapping, geo mapping, sky diving, cargo transport, and more customized configurations. • Fully integrated mission power box with 100 / 120 Amps 28V DC and optional 115/230V AC inverter for high power loading.
  • Fully certified operator console system capable of supporting up to three mission operators in addition to pilots.
  • Fully certified equipment rack
  • Dedicated GPS/GLONASS antennas for mission-specific avionics and connectivity solutions.
  • Advanced avionics suite with an 8-inch pilot’s mission monitor for enhanced operational awareness.
  • Multi-role versatility, enabling quick conversion to cargo, medevac, skydiving, and combi configurations.
  • P2012 Traveller Continental minimum suggested mission speed 85 kts
  • P2012 STOL Continental SMP minimum suggested mission speed 70 kts
  • Maximum endurance in excess of 8h.

Cutting-Edge Avionics and Comfort

Both the Traveller and STOL Continental Special Mission variants are equipped with the latest Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite and GFC-700 autopilot, ensuring ease of operation and enhanced situational awareness. The spacious 9-11 seat cabin, state-of-the-art air conditioning, and advanced noise-reduction systems provide superior comfort for both crew and passengers.

A Versatile and Cost-Effective Solution

With its multi-mission capabilities, robust airframe, and cost-efficient operation, the P2012 continues to set new industry benchmarks. The latest additions to the P2012 series offer a future-ready solution for commercial, government, and special operations worldwide.

“The P2012 Special Mission and STOL variants reflect Tecnam’s ongoing commitment to innovation and versatility,” said Giovanni Pascale Langer, Managing Director of Tecnam“By offering both Lycoming and Continental engine options and enhancing short-field performance, we are ensuring that our customers have the most efficient, adaptable, and capable aircraft for their mission needs.”

Francesco Sferra, P2012 & Special Mission Platforms Sales and Business Development Manager at Tecnam stated: “In the growing demand of capable and safe, yet affordable and cost-efficient Special Mission Platforms, Tecnam has made another innovative step by adding two further variants to its SMP aircraft inventory. The P2012 Continental SMP and the P2012 STOL SMP provide increased range and endurance, simplified management and maintenance, lower operating costs while also granting access to the most extreme and demanding landing strips in the world. TECNAM P2012 STOL ACHIEVES STEEP APPROACH CERTIFICATION UP TO 10° GRADIENT https://tecnam.com/tecnam-p2012-stol-achieves-steep-approach-certification-up-to-10-gradient/ Wed, 29 May 2024 12:22:50 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=24877

The certification arrives during the opening of EBACE, where the P2012 is on display.

CAPUA – Today Tecnam announced that the P2012 STOL has received EASA certification for steep approaches of up to 10°. This important milestone is a significant endorsement of the P2012 design and further expands the aircraft’s operability.

The P2012 STOL aircraft, specifically designed for short take-off and landing operations, is designed and tailored to operate from airports and airstrips characterised by extremely short runways and extreme operational constraints.

Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 – Special Mission Platforms Sales & Business Development Manager, said: “With its impressive short field performance and now 10-degree approach certification, there is no inaccessible runway for the latest P2012 STOL.”

THE AIRCRAFT

The P2012 STOL is the only twin-piston aircraft with Short Take-Off and Landing capabilities that complies with the latest certification amendments. It offers a maximum gross weight of 3680 kg / 8113 lb with a useful load of 1191 kg / 2626 lb while maintaining a modern design, a wide and comfortable cabin and 11 seats.

The cabin entrance and accommodation is enhanced by a wide single access door and a central aisle; moreover, a dedicated window for each of the 9 individual passengers, no bench/double seats and the best passenger amenities are provided such as dual USB ports at each seat, cabin air conditioning, individual fresh and hot air outlets, dedicated reading light, seat pockets and cup and mobile phone holders.

The interiors design and the superb view granted by the “high wing” configuration provide a “best-in-class” experience for the flights to typical remote STOL destinations.

The multi mission capability of the aircraft allows to exchange the STOL configuration from passengers’ transportation to Cargo, Combi, or Air Ambulance within minutes, providing healthcare, assistance and serving communities worldwide.

Mission accomplishment and flight safety enhancement pass through a modern cockpit with latest technology, including as a standard state-of-the-art G1000 NXi avionic system, GFC700 specifically tuned autopilot, and ADS-B IN/OUT. An active and connected flight deck (Bluetooth, flight stream, Iridium) and a toolbox of modern aids (Wx radar, storm scope, inset map, Synthetic Vision™) are provided to reduce workload and fatigue while increasing mission safety and effectiveness. From a comfort perspective the P2012 STOL offers a +34% wider cabin, +24% larger seat pitch, +188% higher luggage weight allowance and +303% better luggage volume when compared to legacy competitors STOL aircraft and does it all in accordance with the latest certification standards.
