Capua, Italy – Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam is proud to announce the successful delivery of the innovative Tecnam P2012 STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft to the Guyana Defence Force (GDF). This marks a significant milestone in Tecnam’s ongoing efforts to support military and civilian operations in challenging environments worldwide.

The aircraft, registration 8R-MAB, was acquired following a signed acceptance agreement in May. Operated by the GDF Air Corps, it is set to enhance the country’s connectivity and operational capabilities across remote jungle regions. The P2012 STOL’s versatile design will facilitate cargo transport, medical evacuation, surveillance, and rapid deployment, all crucial tasks in Guyana’s dense rainforest landscape.

Guyana’s President Mohamed Irfaan Ali was present at the reception ceremony and explained that the Tecnam P2012 aircraft, although not an attack model, will be used to resupply remote outposts, evacuate people and respond to emergencies. He highlighted its performance, versatility and ability to operate in jungle areas within the country. According to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, it will also be used for rapid deployment, surveillance, search and rescue, as well as to combat transnational criminal organizations linked to drug and arms trafficking.

The Tecnam P2012 is a twin-engine multirole aircraft suitable for cargo, medical evacuation, surveillance, and other missions. The STOL variant excels in operating on short, unprepared runways, making it ideal for Guyana’s challenging geography. It can accommodate up to nine passengers along with two pilots, offering exceptional versatility for military and civilian operations alike.

Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 Special Mission Platforms Sales & Business Development Manager and Experimental Test Pilot, commented on the delivery, “The Tecnam P2012 STOL exemplifies our commitment to providing versatile, multi missionand reliable aircraft capable of accomplishing the assigned mission in the most demanding and extreme operational environments. We are proud to support the Guyana Defence Force in strengthening their operational capabilities and assisting their mission to serve and protect their nation.”

Two P2012 Traveller Continental delivered to RORAIMA Airways

CAPUA – Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM is proud to announce the delivery of two P2012 Traveller Continental aircraft to RORAIMA Airways in Guyana.

Upon performing the aircraft acceptance in the Tecnam premises in Capua, Italy, the first aircraft has been transferred to Guyana in a ferry flight that has been performed by a joint team including RORAIMA Airways’ Director of Aviation and Chief Pilot Gerald Gouveia Jr., that flew the aircraft from Canada to the new home base in Guyana, where the aircraft will be employed for passenger and medical services.

The Government of Guyana is investing heavily in aviation infrastructure and the P2012 will be one of the pillars in the modernisation of Guyana’s aviation. RORAIMA Airways will be able to offer charter flights to or from any part of the Caribbean and Northern Brazil to Guyana with ease and the highest level of service, safety and comfort to its customers.

Renowned for offering its customers the ultimate in luxury and safety, RORAIMA Airways is the premium provider of air charter services in Guyana and northern Brazil, where multi-engine operations over the varied terrain and over water provide a significant safety advantage for the company’s market area.

Passenger comfort was a key factor in the operator’s decision: all single seats are generously spaced, with individual window and seat amenities, double in-seat USB ports, cup holder, seat pocket, armrest; plus under seat stowage and dual air conditioning (that can be ground operated on DC power to ‘pre-cool’ the aircraft prior to boarding) offer limousine levels of comfort and convenience. The P2012 Traveller Series also offers very competitive operating costs.

The two new aircraft are provided with multi mission configurations that will also enable RORAIMA to offer 24-hour Air Ambulance operations, raising the bar for medical evacuation and air ambulance flights in the country, as well as cargo capability.

RORAIMA Airways is the first operator of the P2012 Traveller in the region and Tecnam will continue to work with them and the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority to develop solutions to meet local air travel needs.

RORAIMA Airways’ Director of Aviation and Chief Pilot Gerald Gouveia Jr. added: “We are expanding the VIP passenger experience, charter operations, cargo and medevac flights, offering a higher level of safety and luxury even in the jungle “Roraima has a very proud history of providing these services to the people of Guyana during the day and the night. Due to the risk of operating in the jungle without proper weather reporting and adverse weather conditions, we had actually restricted the night flying at the company. With the Tecnam aircraft and the added technology and safety standards, as well as the work that the government is doing to improve the quality of the airstrips across Guyana, we are looking to restart our night medevac service. I can safely say, as the director of aviation, I am in a position where I will be more comfortable dispatching night medevac flights.””

“Providing a new and vital service is the mission of our P2012 Traveller in all its variants. The versatility of the Continental Traveller with multi missioin capability will be a key success factor for Roraima’s operations,” said Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 – Special Mission Platforms Sales & Business Development Manager.
