Capua, Italy – Air Taxi, operated by Aviation Connectivity & Infrastructure Developers Pvt. Ltd., has marked a historic milestone in regional aviation by achieving unprecedented daily utilization of its Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft fleet.

Since August 2023, Air Taxi has deployed 8 Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft across India’s underserved regions under the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. These state-of-the-art aircraft have been flying an average of 11 hours a day, seven days a week, making Air Taxi the largest daily operator of the Tecnam P2010 TDI in the world.

“Air Taxi’s Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft sliced through the morning mist, carrying dreams and destinations to remote corners of India,” said Varun Suhag, Managing Director of Air Taxi.
“Since August 2023, we’ve been on a mission to connect the unconnected, bridging gaps and driving real progress. With each flight, we’re not just carrying passengers – we’re carrying the promise of a better-connected India.”

The Tecnam P2010 TDI has proven to be a game changer in regional aviation, offering exceptional payload capacity, fuel economy, cruise speed, and passenger comfort. As a training organization (ATO/FTO) and a scheduled regional operator, Air Taxi is uniquely positioned to maximize the utility and reach of this next-generation single-engine aircraft.

“We are extremely proud of Air Taxi’s outstanding operational achievement,” said Walter Da Costa, Chief Sales Officer of Tecnam“Their success with the P2010 TDI is a perfect example of how modern, efficient aircraft can empower sustainable regional air connectivity. Air Taxi’s commitment proves that aviation can be both impactful and responsible.”

Efficiency That Delivers Real Impact

The Tecnam P2010 TDI operates with an average fuel consumption of just 5.2 U.S. gallons per hour (approximately 19.7 litres/hour). Given Air Taxi’s daily utilization of 11 hours per aircraft, each unit consumes around:

  • 57.2 U.S. gallons/day
  • 216.7 litres/day
  • 1,716 U.S. gallons/month
  • 6,500 litres/month

In contrast, a conventional 4-seat single-engine aircraft using 100LL fuel typically consumes 10.5 U.S. gallons/hour (around 40 litres/hour), which under the same usage results in:

  • 115.5 U.S. gallons/day
  • 437.2 litres/day
  • 3,465 U.S. gallons/month
  • 12,540 litres/month

This results in a fuel saving of approximately 1,749 U.S. gallons (6,040 litres) per aircraft per month — an impressive 50% reduction, directly translating into lower operational costs and significantly reduced carbon emissions.

Air Taxi’s high-frequency operations are bringing tangible change — from enabling farmers to access wider markets, to helping students and professionals reach new educational and economic opportunities, to reuniting families across states.

Every takeoff tells a story. And as these aircraft soar through the skies, they carry more than passengers — they carry India’s aspirations for inclusive connectivity, sustainable aviation, and empowered rural economies.

Tradition, innovation and vision. These factors are taking Tecnam to new horizons. Based on recent data and industry benchmarks, Tecnam offers the greenest training fleet in the world. Flight schools using Tecnam’s single and twin-engine fleet can save up to 10 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per CPL student – a 60% reduction compared to fleets running exclusively on 100LL fuel over 155 training hours, including 30 hours in a twin.

Chimes Aviation Academy expands fleet with Tecnam https://tecnam.com/chimes-aviation-academy-expands-fleet-with-tecnam/ Fri, 27 Sep 2024 12:40:05 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=26628

The Indian flying training academy acquires first four Tecnam P2010 Tdi

Capua, Italy – Tecnam and Chimes Aviation Academy have announced the purchase of four      (04) P2010 TDI aircraft, powered by the Continental CD170 engine. This new acquisition will allow Chimes Aviation Academy to enhance its pilot training and provide students with a modern platform.

Chimes Aviation Academy is one of the largest flying training organisations in India. With 2 airbases, 22 aircraft, full in-house maintenance, 600+ alumni, 144 cadets trained under the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program, CAA has established itself as the premium FTO in India with over 16 years of flying excellence. With an additional 90 aircraft on order, expected to be operational by 2030, this expansion will strengthen CAA’s market share and enhance its ability to meet the growing demand for qualified pilots.

About the P2010 TDI

The “Twenty-Ten” is equipped with advanced avionics based on the state of the art Garmin G1000 Nxi, enhancing the mission accomplishment through Electronic Stability & Protection and Synthetic Vision, significant safety features when flying over the Alps region and during IFR training typical missions of the ATO.

The P2010 airframe, with its wide composite fuselage and the all-metal wing and stabilator, has proven to be the perfect platform to match the CD-170 engine efficiency, combining the easiness of the Single Lever Power Control engine management to an exceptional fuel economy: the aircraft offers an outstanding fuel burn that ranges from just 4.5 USG/hr (17 litres/hr) at 55% power, to 7 USG/hr (27 litres/hr) at 75% power. Nevertheless, the engine provides a constant 91% maximum continuous power up to 10,000ft and a maximum operating altitude of 18,000ft, allowing the P2010 TDI to definitely “soar higher”.

More notably the dual FADEC powerplant grants extremely low operating costs and emissions, and the use of Jet Fuels or Sustainable Aviation Fuel. SAF is already available at many airports throughout Europe which means that up to 80% of net CO2 emissions can be saved by its utilization. And with a range beyond 1,200 nm and an endurance on excess of 12 hours, the P2010 Tdi is the perfect choice not only for Flight Training Organizations (which can count on a single refueling for a whole training-day), but for private mobility too.

TECNAM, which produces the most complete, fuel efficient and less emitting fleet (both single and twin engine) for Flight Training Organization, is constantly committed to provide the most achievable and sustainable solutions towards a greener future and successful business for its valuable clients.
